The Galaxy S25 series comes with a new rear camera ring design, which differentiates it from the Galaxy S24. The previous generation had a subtle ring around the cameras, but the new flagships have thicker, rubbed rings that look quite gorgeous… but have a little hidden defect, apparently.
Soon after the phones were launched, it was discovered that beneath these camera rings was another set of camera rings, similar to the ones the Galaxy S24 phones rocked. Apparently, Samsung glued the new ones on top of the old ones, in a way… and it seems it may not have done a good job by gluing them, as for some people, the rings are coming off.
User @parthosarathi_b on X (via SamMobile) shares that the ring on one of the cameras of their Galaxy S25 Ultra has fallen off. Of course, the device doesn’t look as cool without it. The user claims the ring came off without any physical damage to the device, which, if true, is frankly terrible. Especially when you take into account the fact that the Galaxy S25 Ultra starts at $1,299!
According to the user post, the other camera rings are holding strong, so the problem may not be due to an engineering issue. More likely, it could be a quality control issue.
Unfortunately, when the user went to the service center, the representatives didn’t have spare rings to fix the fancy look of their Galaxy S25 Ultra, and an order for those was placed. Well, the user will have to wait for the delivery and then visit the service center once again to get their Ultra phone back to its former glory.
Meanwhile, soon after the release of the phones, the design of the camera rings was criticized by famous YouTuber JerryRigEverything. Back then, he expected problems to arise from this design down the road, and maybe, his predictions are coming true.
I would personally be quite angry if such an expensive phone like the Galaxy S25 Ultra gets “disassembled” easily. It’s not something that makes the phone unusable, alright, but it’s annoying, especially if you paid so much money for it…
But for now, this seems to be rather an isolated problem: people on Reddit do not report encountering problems like the one above just yet.
However, many do indicate the rings collect dust. Hopefully, Samsung will fix this problem with the next iteration of its premium phones, the Galaxy S26 series.
